During the fall and winter months, a popular item that you see people adding to their diet is elderberry. Elderberries can be consumed in different ways but the most common ways are in a syrup or as elderberry gummies.
Elderberries are talked about so much in the fall and winter because they are filled with antioxidants. Antioxidants help your body fight off free radicals which are things that come from the environment that can cause sickness in your body. The more antioxidants you consume, the better you are able to fight them off and hopefully stay healthy!
It All Starts With Homemade Elderberry Syrup
I make elderberry syrup every year and you can view that recipe on my blog here.
Everything you need to make the syrup is linked in my Amazon Storefront including my spice drawer organizer and spice jars which are one of the favorite parts of my kitchen. Fun fact: When we remodeled my kitchen, we had to change the design to accommodate this drawer and it was 100% worth it!
You’ll use the elderberry syrup recipe to make these homemade elderberry gummies which are an easy way for the whole family to get the benefits of elderberries. I made the gummies using a recipe that I got from a vlogger, Rebekah Rhodes.
I had the pleasure of meeting her and her family at the Homesteaders of America Conference and wanted to give her recipe a try. We take one elderberry gummy a day during the fall in winter months, usually taking a break from them in the spring and summer months.
