There's something satisfying about opening your pantry and knowing you can make something delicious without making another trip to the grocery store. These homemade cheddar parmesan crackers are one of my favorite "Skip the Store" recipes because they're made with simple ingredients and they're a great way to use up those little pieces of cheese that often get forgotten in the refrigerator.
If you've been looking for homemade crackers made with real ingredients and no seed oils, this recipe is for you. With just a handful of pantry staples, you'll have crispy, buttery crackers that taste even better than many store-bought versions.
These homemade crackers are sure to become a family favorite and snack that you will feel good about.

Save Money One Homemade Snack at a Time
Like so many grocery items, crackers have become more expensive over the past few years. Snacks can quietly become one of the biggest expenses in a grocery budget. We spend just $135/month on groceries and if you want to see what we buy each month, you can check out my monthly grocery hauls on my YouTube Channel. While there's certainly a place for convenience foods, making a few pantry staples at home can really stretch our grocery budget. It also allows us to control the ingredients and make them allergy friendly.
A batch of homemade crackers costs less than many specialty brands and gives me complete control over the ingredients. Instead of paying for preservatives, artificial flavors, and seed oils, I can use real butter, fresh cheese, and simple pantry staples I already have on hand. This is one small change that adds up over time. These crackers store well for several days and make an easy addition to lunches or after-school snacks. Store them in a glass container in the fridge to keep them fresh!
Because they're made from scratch, you can adjust the seasonings and use whatever cheese you have available.
Small changes like this may not seem significant at first, but making a few pantry snacks yourself can save hundreds of dollars over the course of a year.

Cheese Crackers with Simple, Real Ingredients
One of my favorite things about this recipe is the short ingredient list. Instead of highly processed oils and additives, these crackers are made with just five ingredients.
- Freshly shredded Kerrygold cheddar
- Fresh Parmesan
- Real butter
- Flour
- Simple seasonings
When you make food from scratch you know exactly what's going into it. These crackers are an easy place to start if you are looking to avoid seed oils and try making your own homemade snacks.

Reduce Food Waste
One of the biggest reasons people spend so much on groceries is that they are wasting food. That could be produce that goes bad or leftovers that never get eaten. It also means those small amounts of items that you end up tossing in the garbage because it doesnāt seem like much.
Those little pieces of cheese sitting in the drawer may not be enough for sandwiches, but they're perfect for homemade crackers!
This recipe is very flexible and you can use any cheese that you have. As long as you have about 1½ cups of cheese total, youāll get a great flavor.
Some of my favorite combinations include:
- Sharp cheddar & Parmesan
- White cheddar & Asiago
- Gouda & Parmesan
- Pepper Jack & Monterey Jack
Every batch is a little different and that's part of the fun.
