If taco night is starting to feel a little boring, this easy homemade Crunchwrap Supreme recipe is the perfect way to switch things up without buying anything special or complicated. Using simple pantry staples and leftover taco ingredients, you can turn a regular dinner into something fun and different!
This recipe is inspired by the classic Crunchwrap Supreme, but made at home with flexibility in mind. There’s no strict recipe here, just easy steps, customizable fillings, and a homemade cheesy jalapeño sauce that gives it that restaurant flavor.

Ingredients You’ll Need For Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme
This homemade Crunchwrap Supreme uses the same ingredients you’d buy for a normal taco night and should already have in your pantry. I believe that having a pantry stocked with ingredients is easier than meal planning, because you always have what you need. You can see a full list of pantry essentials in this blog. When I go grocery shopping I try to buy one for now, and one for later, especially when items are on sale.
These are the items that are needed for these Crunchwrap Supremes, click on the links on the names if you want tips for keeping these items fresh longer.
- Flour tortillas (taco size or burrito size)
- Taco meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)
- Black beans
- Romaine lettuce (or any lettuce you have)
- Bell peppers and onions
- Avocado
- Cilantro (optional)
- Tortilla chips (for extra crunch)
- Butter or oil (for crisping)

Easy Recipe for Black Beans
This is one of my favorite ways to make canned black beans, and it adds so much flavor with almost no effort.
How to Make Black Beans:
- Add the entire can of black beans, including the liquid, into a saucepan.
- Add 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of cumin.
- Squeeze in the juice of ½ a lemon or lime.
- Let simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Use a fork to lightly mash some of the beans for a refried-style texture.
- Stir in chopped cilantro at the end if you have it.
These beans are creamy, flavorful, and perfect for Crunchwraps, tacos, or burritos.

Homemade Cheesy Jalapeño Sauce
If you’ve never made cheese sauce before, don’t worry, this one is easy!
How to Make It:
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add equal parts butter and flour to make a roux.
- Let the flour cook slightly as the butter melts.
- Add shredded cheese (about 1 cup or more, depending on preference).
- Slowly add milk to thin the sauce.
- Stir in diced jalapeños and mix until smooth and creamy.
This sauce is what really gives the homemade Crunchwrap Supreme that restaurant-style flavor.
How to Assemble a Crunchwrap Supreme (Easy Method)
If you don’t have burrito-size tortillas, no problem, this method works with regular soft taco sized tortillas too.
Triangle Crunchwrap Method
- Place a flour tortilla on a cutting board.
- Cut from the center of the tortilla out to the edge.
- Divide the tortilla into four sections:
- Section 1: Cheesy jalapeño sauce
- Section 2: Black beans or taco meat
- Section 3: The other protein (beans or meat)
- Section 4: Veggies (lettuce, peppers, onions, avocado)
- Section 1: Cheesy jalapeño sauce
- Fold the veggie section over the center.
- Continue folding clockwise to form a triangle pocket.
- Fold the cheese section last, it helps seal everything together.
- Add a few tortilla chips inside for crunch.
Optional (But Recommended!)
Heat a little butter in a pan and cook the Crunchwrap on each side until golden brown and crispy.

Burrito-Size Crunchwrap Supreme Variation
This version is closer to the classic Crunchwrap Supreme and is great for feeding a crowd.
Steps:
- Cook a corn tortilla in butter or oil until crispy.
- Lay a large flour tortilla flat.
- Add cheese sauce to the center.
- Top with taco meat and black beans.
- Place the crispy corn tortilla on top.
- Add sour cream or Greek yogurt and veggies.
- Add a second corn tortilla on top.
- Wrap the flour tortilla around everything.
- Place seam-side down in a pan and cook until golden.
- Flip carefully and brown the other side.
This version is filling enough to feed two people, making it great for stretching meals and saving money.
